Halloween isn’t just for trick-or-treaters. It’s one of the best excuses of the year to round up your mates, dress completely unlike yourself and plan a night out that’s a little more fun than your average Saturday.
But if another year of sitting in someone’s living room wearing a last-minute pair of devil horns isn’t quite cutting it, you might be looking for Halloween party ideas for adults that involve actually doing something.

Fancy dress is infinitely better when there’s something at stake, so turn your Halloween outfits into a competition. Pick a theme, set categories like best dressed, funniest costume or best group effort, then let everyone vote.

Are you turning up heavenly or raising hell? Think angels, fallen saints, devils and demons… then go all out. There’ll even be a prize for the best dressed, so those wings or horns could end up being worth the effort.
Turn your Halloween night into a battle
If your group gets competitive after approximately one drink, this one’s for you.
Rather than spending your entire Halloween night standing around a bar, plan Halloween activities that get everyone involved.
Split into teams and keep a running score throughout the evening. Depending on your BOOM location, you could battle it out across games including AR darts, shuffleboard, American pool, axe throwing, karaoke and more.

Get the group into costume, book a booth and create the most ridiculous Halloween playlist possible. You’ve got the obvious spooky classics, but bonus points for songs that match your costumes.
Going as a 00s pop star? Even better.

Who decided Halloween had to start after dark?
One of our favourite Halloween party ideas for adults is turning it into an all-day event — and brunch is a pretty strong place to start.
This Halloween, The Big BOOM Brunch is going full Y2K with our 00s Throwback Halloween Brunch.

Host your own Halloween cocktail crawl
If your ideal Halloween activities are slightly less “haunted house” and slightly more “another cocktail?”, build your night around Halloween drinks instead.
Pick a few bars, order the spookiest serve at each one and rate them as you go. Presentation, taste and ridiculous garnish all count.
Or keep everything under one roof.

Think a Cuba Creeper, a Monster Mojito finished with spooky sweets, a Pumpkin Spice Daiquiri and an appropriately dangerous-looking Zombie.

Plan a Halloween games tournament for a big group
Trying to organise Halloween for ten, fifteen or twenty people can quickly turn into a group-chat nightmare.
The easiest answer? Give everyone something to do.
Create teams before you arrive, give them Halloween-themed names and set up your own mini tournament. Games work especially well for birthdays, work socials, uni groups and big friendship groups because nobody has to spend three hours making small talk around the same table.
